That has to be about the lamest "duh" article I've seen in awhile. It's not much unlike video game consoles, sell them at a loss, make it up on games...or cell phones, give them away, make it up on the service. BTW, these "cheaper" versions are still very profitable. Congratulations, the Beeb managed to write on article on marketing that should surprise exactly no one. What? Charge what people will pay for a product they want? Naaa, that couldn't possibly work. I can only assume you were alerting people to the idea that they can get a cheaper cappuccino at Starbucks (rather than the bigger "exposé" that companies market in clever ways).
yes, that was the only interest in the article. the rest showed the usual journalist-ignorance of the basic ideas of economics and capitalism.
